About
How can one begin to describe themselves?
Is it one’s heritage that defines them? Because if it is, then I should tell you that most of my family originated from Eastern Europe and immigrated to Mexico City a few years before World War II. I am first generation American, so I inevitably grew up speaking Spanglish. I love that movie! The Mexican actress reminds me so much of my mom when she was learning how to speak English. My mom still pronounces slippers like sleepers no matter how many times we try to teach her otherwise.
Or does one define themselves by where they live? If so, I have jumped around quiet a bit in my life. I was born in Houston, but would never consider myself to be a Houstonite! How can a girl with curly hair work with that humidity? We moved on to New Orleans, home of Mardi Gras, beignets and the Manning brothers, but I could not help feeling like a visitor during my stay. Our last stop was good old Dallas. I had returned to my Texas roots but this time was loving those “howdies” and yalls”.
Or is it the education? Can you see my Longhorn horns protruding from my forehead and does my blood run burnt orange? I don’t think I have that much UT spirit, but you can probably catch me throwing up my horns in a couple of pictures.
Ultimately, whatever one mentions in their About Me page will be the only thing you know about them. So if this wasn’t enough to satisfy your appetite, all you got to do is blog me!
